I’m Corby, a holistic health and fitness coach. What this means is that when you trust me with your goals of losing weight and/or gaining muscle, that I am also working to improve your overall mental and physical health. By implementing healthy habits that make the most difference to our UNIQUE ecosystems, we are guaranteed to reap the rewards of our best physical shape and health. In many ways we are the same but when you dig deeper you will find variations that need attention.
In addition to my personal training certification, I’ve studied nutrition, genetics, methylation, cellular processes, autoimmune conditions and most importantly the microbiome. When we work to improve these areas through fitness, nutrigenomics, proper meal planning, supplementation and stress management, we give ourselves the best chance at a long and happy life. With my guidance you will not only see your dream body come to fruition, but you will also feel reborn as your health returns to an optimal state. Your 6 week program is life-changing!
My desire to reach out to you…most recently came from witnessing a few of my family members health decline. It’s been a rough few years but I believe everything happens for a reason and that my legacy is to help others. I’ve always been a great fitness coach, focusing on my clients in every way and helping them achieve their goals of weight loss, building muscle and happiness, but being able to add what I’ve learned over the past few years about our internal ecosystem is a priceless addition to my skillset. My gift is that when I learn something I am able to retain it and relay it in a way that resonates and is easily understood. And I’m super excited that I have found a way to share it with you through the Biome APP.
But who am I? Great question! I’ve been a health and fitness coach for over 10 years, obtaining my certification in Canada in 2006. Up until then you could say I was a bit of a gypsy. By the time I graduated high school I had been to at least 16 schools (that I can name). My mother had 4 of us on her own and was always looking for a fresh start. We finally settled in British Columbia and it gave us a chance to grow some roots.
I obtained my Diploma in Broadcasting and Media and worked in the film industry until the unhealthy lifestyle caught up with me and I suffered a herniated disc (zero back pain now thanks to proper form and technique). I started managing an office but with my need for human contact, I quickly grew bored. Next career was real estate but again it didn’t keep me stimulated or challenged. It was actually the owner of my home gym that changed my life. (Thanks Mike!) He asked me to become a personal trainer and even paid for my certification. After the first day of class I knew this was the career for me. The balance of working with people (I love people) and continually studying science (I love science) has kept me stimulated for over ten years. Best decision I ever made!
If you are considering changing careers but are too afraid to take lesser pay, my advice is this, what good is money if you’re unhappy; and if you are truly passionate about what you do every day, you will make money doing it, someway, somehow. Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Which brings me to the next chapter of my life…Australia. I grew up in Canada and met my partner when he was travelling (at my home gym actually) and the rest is history. We have a 3 year old son and are both happy doing what we love!
We all make decisions that determine our quality of life. Answer me truthfully, do your recent choices reflect what you envision for yourself? Are you getting closer to your dreams? Do you challenge yourself every day and nourish your body with what it needs? If you haven’t been treating your temple with the respect it deserves, skip past the guilt (you’ll get nowhere fast) and instead remind yourself that you have the ability to change, heal and flourish. I believe that we ALL have what it takes to be truly happy, we just need the right tools, motivation and dedication.
